Resumo

Due to the increasing globalization of the economy, with disputes for markets in a global level, the socioeconomic, political, cultural, legal and technological changes are blatant in the world of work. Amidst these changes an important issue emerges from the set of transformations which are reconfiguring the world of work, it is the qualification of the worker. Which new demands are posed to the worker in this scenario? Thinking about the challenges of qualification in and for the work places us in an angle which connects the complex transformation processes in the world of work, the policies to deal with byproducts, especially unemployment, the actions from various educational institutions and the training of the worker. The issue about the shaping of the man in his totallity, before the capitalist mode of production, is central to the understanding of the social relations and its possible transformation. The importance of the work-education relation is justified because from it the human formation is shaped as a contradictory process marked by the capitalist values. This process, as it becomes institutionalized, creates appropriate categories to be socially defined, for example: education, work and professional qualifications. The relevance of this theme imposes us the challenge to unveil the conceptions and actions which, veiled or explicitly, cover the professional qualification public policies in and for the State of Amazonas. We analyzed the Centro de Educação Tecnológica do Amazons — CETAM - while public policy for professional education - as the possible scenario for the investigation of how the government of Amazonas treats the professional qualification of the worker before the imperatives of the work market and the specificities of the Amazon region. It is necessary to make a survey of the programs offered and how the organizational structure of CETAM is composed, investigating the actions, society perspectives, the conceptions of relations between work, education and society which guide this approach.
