Mulheres e deslocamento: um olhar sobre as viagens de ônibus em Manaus

Abstract

The master's thesis addresses urban mobility in Manaus, investigating gender relations and social markers that impact displacements in the city. The ethnographic research included semi-structured interviews with interlocutors and the monitoring of bus lines in the field work. The study aims to understand the dimensions of urban mobility in Manaus, considering both physical movement and the subjective experience of subjects with social markers of difference. The spatial clipping of the interviews and the routes was delimited in the bus routes that pass through the city center. The researcher's female perspective, influenced by Haraway and Collins, highlights the importance of an intersectional approach, considering the interconnections between gender, race and class. The study is based on knowledge from Architecture and Urbanism and Anthropology, seeking to understand the relationship between city and gender. The dissertation contributes to the reflection on the inequalities and experiences of women in the city, as well as for the understanding of urban mobility in Manaus.
