Abstract

This work seeks to analyze and interpret as manifestations of power and violence present no novel The torturer in romaria, by Heloneida Studart, from the discussion focused on the relations between literature and violence. Thus, to seek as a result manifestation violence and authoritarianism without text and how are engineers mechanisms of subversion in the narrative through the construction of the narrator and the perspective adopted when narrating. It discusses the role of the Family, Church and State institutions as promoters of violence over a person's life, covering not only related to the violence of the Brazilian period, but also related to the violence inflicted by more varied institutions and segments present in a society, portrayed in The Torturer in Pilgrimage.
