Atuação do enfermeiro na reabilitação psicossocial de pacientes amputados

Abstract

Introduction: Limb amputation is associated with several causes and entails significant changes in the individual's life, including psychological, emotional, and social impacts. The rehabilitation process encompasses not only physical recovery but also measures that minimize these impacts. Within this scenario, investigating the role of nurses is of great importance, since nurses are commonly in direct contact with the individual in the context of care and have the ability to actively participate in different areas of their recovery. Objective: To identify the role of nursing in the psychosocial rehabilitation of patients who have undergone amputation. Method: This study consists of an integrative literature review, a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The bibliographic survey was carried out considering the period from 2012 to 2022, in the LILACS, BDENF, MEDLINE, SCIELO, and SCOPUS databases, by crossing descriptors. Results: This integrative review had a final sample of 10 articles and identified the relevance of nurses in the psychosocial rehabilitation of amputee patients, with responsibilities both during hospitalization and in the post-amputation period, covering aspects such as psychological and emotional support, educational guidance related to the condition, encouragement of reintegration into the community, as well as attention to specific needs that arise during the process and coordination with a multidisciplinary team. Conclusion: Nursing work with patients undergoing amputation contributes to comprehensive and holistic care that addresses the varied demands of this group of individuals.
