Quatro cabeças de uma hidra urbana: imagens e sonoridades da cultura Hip Hop na cidade de Manaus - AM

Abstract

The main objective of this work is to demonstrate an imagery and sound panorama of the Hip Hop culture in the city of Manaus, capital of the state of Amazonas. Through cell phone camera lenses, images extracted from social networks, music, sounds, illustrations, QR Codes (two-dimensional bar codes), audiovisual and graphic productions, we present the four artistic elements of Hip Hop culture (deejay, rap, breakdance and graffiti) in its historical instances and different interactions, processes of resistance, actions, contradictions and possible conflicts in the urban spaces of the municipality in focus. We can emphasize that it is a study full of an interdisciplinary content, essences extracted from history, sociology, literature, social communication, anthropology, architecture and graphic design to make a true radiography of a street culture that for almost four decades has influenced the behavior of part of the Manaus youth. For some time now we have been calling the Hip Hop culture Urban Hydra. As well as the mythological being that has the ability to recover from Hercules' attacks. Hip Hop has been going through almost five decades of hybridization processes with new rhythms, sounds, instruments, technologies, in this way, these young people appropriate and distribute art, dance and music in the peripheries of the whole world.
