Espacialização da criminalidade : um estudo sobre a relação entre densidade demográfica e violência em Manaus, AM

Abstract

This study sought to examine the police reports the urban area of Manaus / AM 2013 alternatively to conventional, ie: instead of dealing with occurrences in absolute values for neighborhoods, we sought to associate them to the resident population, recognizing the relationship between people and crime. the hypothesis was assumed that there is a relationship between population density and crime and that this way of treating the data would change the map of crime in Manaus. Therefore the geocoded police data were compared with estimates of the resident population in the neighborhood for the same year and with the inhabitants for census tracts in the census of 2010. Using the System of Geographical Information - SIG, the surveys were handled and prepared maps for all city (overview), by districts and census tracts (detail) on the distribution of the population and the police reports for crime nature. With the adopted methodological procedures and obtained resutaldos was concluded that relativize the events by the resident population substantially changes the city crime map. The neighborhoods with lower crime rate ended up in evidence due to the low population density, while others, seen as violent, were in less prominent position compared occurrences with the resident population.
