Resumo

The debate on sustainability has brought awareness about the environmental aggressions and some consumers now require natural products whose use and exploitation causes minimal impacts, making it a market niche for these products. The Amazon is emerging as repository of these new sources of raw materials and the companies look the rural communities as their suppliers. The objective of this study was to analyze the integration of the farming families of a place called regionally Santo Antonio do Abonari community in the productive dynamics of buriti oil for the corporate segment of the Industrial Pole of Manaus, and the social, economic and environmental consequences thereof arising. Family units at the Community of St. Anthony Abonari, in the municipality of Presidente Figueiredo, state of Amazonas, practice pluriactivity providing diversified sources of income and allowing a stable family budget throughout the year. Over the years Santo Antonio do Abonari won local highlight for producing fruit of buriti, being identified as a potential supplier of buriti oil and in 2005 implemented a miniplant to Buriti oil production at the headquarters of his community association. The methodological strategy used in this study was qualitative research, using interviews and field research forms with family farmers. Data were analyzed considering the systemic complexity of reality. Therefore, it was contextualized up the socioeconomic formation process of the community and the profile of its residents. Were also characterized, procedures and techniques adopted by farmers, the products generated, consumed and marketed and the resulting monetary income of agro-extractive activities, the pluriactivity and social policies. Concurrent held the historic rescue of the productive integration process of buriti oil in the community through the creation of an Association made up by family farmers. It was found with the historical rescue the fact of accession and the community's initial commitment to producing oil. However, the Association's relationship with the buriti oil purchasing companies, active in the market were extremely unfavorable not only in relation to compliance with the requirements for standards of quality, quantity and deadlines as by severe deficiencies attributable to the Association staff shortage qualified in his staff. for economic and financial management of the organization, but also for negotiation with buying companies and compliance with trade agreements. It was found that the inclusion of a community of family farmers in the global economy needs to be planned through a deep study involving a multidisciplinary team for the initial evaluation and also a monitoring process during the first production cycle. to ensure maintenance of trading conditions for good production practices management and financial control. The public sector must provide the provision of technical assistance, supervision and search of trade agreements to ensure compliance with contracts and agreements within the time limits and combined values in order to bring confidence of community in the activity, financial returns and a good quality life to these populations..In the Community, the environment is the "place" where human activity is capable of producing and reproducing the material and cultural goods needed to maintain families. Culturally, a community liaison with the Buriti is related to the valuation of its own existence. So how these farmers are related to the environment ensures the sustainability of their production practices and thus conservation is guaranteed of all the elements, materials and cultural involved
