Corpos que se enfrentam: um duelo agudíssimo na poesia de Luiza Neto Jorge

Abstract

In the book Poesia 1960-1989, by the Portuguese poet Luiza Neto Jorge, I proposed to do a study directed to the approach of the women body and the representation of it in the writing, in the body of the writing, in other words, according to the feminist criticism. Fundamental aspects in terms of the problems raised regarding the hegemonic knowledge during the history of humanity grounded in the masculine were discussed, as the functions imposed on women in the history and literature and against violence, which have sought autonomy in everyday relations. I employ by literary criticism method the feminist literary criticism represented by Donna Perry in her essay "A canção de Procne: a tarefa do criticismo literário feminista", Elizabeth Grosz, with "Corpos reconfigurados"; Donna Wilshire, with "Os usos do mito, da imagem e do corpo da mulher na re-imaginação do conhecimento”; Manuela Tavares, about the literary context in Estado Novo, in ―Feminismos: percursos e desafios (1947 – 2007)‖. I analyze some poems written by Luiza Neto Jorge in which I show, together, transgressions regarding the structure of the poem and the behavior imposed on women in the western world, especially in the Portuguese society of the twentieth century. Poesia 1960-1989 reveals how the written body/woman reiterates an oppressed existence, but resilient in their ordinary every day. Through poetry, a whole struggle history of a Portuguese authoritarian and sexist society; by the poetry, another world.
