Aplicação de metodologias de gestão na identificação e avaliação dos aspectos e impactos ambientais dos laboratórios de Química do ISB/Coari: estudo de caso.

Abstract

One of the most worrying environmental issues today is the generation of waste and educational institutions are inserted in this context for their administrative activities in addition to practical classes and research, which are their responsibility. It is important for the organization to identify the environmental aspects and impacts resulting from its activities and the use of methodologies such as FMEA and Cleaner Production - P+L can help in this survey and assist in the implementation of an Environmental Management System - SGA appropriate to its reality. Thus, we sought to identify and evaluate the environmental aspects and impacts related to the teaching and research activities of the chemistry laboratories of the Institute of Health and Biotechnology - ISB/Coari, carrying out a thorough assessment of the local situation to adopt measures to eliminate or reduce of the risks generated to the environment. The use of the FMEA form together with observations and records made on the spot made it possible to collect and analyze the data, enabling the creation of priority tables determined by the Environmental Risk Index - IRA, resulting in priority levels I, II, III and IV. Of the 67 processes, twenty-one (21) were analyzed and the results show that all of them present their level of priorities, because if they were detected as problems, they must be solved. Thirty-two (32) priorities were detected, with two (02) priority I, which are those that presented IRA equal to or greater than 365 without current control of environmental aspects and impacts, eight (08) with priority level II, with IRA equal to or greater than 365, however, with some current control, followed by six (06) priorities III and sixteen (16) with priority IV, where are those classified with ARI less than 365 without current control and or with current control, respectively. The tool proved to be satisfactory in the collection of data, enabling the preparation of a report for the Institute with the results and proposed actions aiming to serve as an important management instrument and that decision-making can be implemented by the action and involvement of the manager and his team of biosafety in the search for a partnership to implement the recommended actions for the benefit of the whole (students, servers, institution, society and the environment).
