Uma análise político-econômica de desenvolvimento no município de Itacoatiara-AM

Abstract

The research we have developed is included in the discussion on the process of developing the Amazon region in the period 1990 to 2008, taking as reference the Itacoatiara municipality located in the state of Amazonas. The choice of this council is due to existence of documents that provide statistics, information and socioeconomic study on the economic policies in the municipality of Itacoatiara. The objective is to analyze the public policies for the municipality in such a way that works for the integrated development of its economy and society. Programs Third Cycle and Zona Franca Verde (ZFV) pledged to contribute to the development of municipalities in the State through various actions, including encouraging the sustainable forest management as a way of increasing income of small producers and that improve the quality of life for them. Because of the importance of monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of public policies, this research analyzed the results achieved by the third cycle and ZFV programs, the adequacy and effectiveness of the measures proposed by these programs. Targeting, thus, contribute to the direction of public policies, so they are more adapted to the real political, economic,social and cultural development of small producers in the interior of Amazonas. Were made for this consultation to the primary and secondary bibliographic sources for the analysis of historical data and quantitative. The performance of the municipality of Itacoatiara the role of regional economic center, has Itacoatiara in the area of trade and industry, its predominant economic activity, as 55% and 41% of the workforce in these sectors are, and that the primary activity does not exceed 5%. Similarly it holds the third largest GDP and the fifth place for its population in the state of Amazonas. Another interesting factor is raised to its geographical position. In the territorial division of labor, Itacoatiara is one of the new poles of soybean producers in the Amazon, especially along the road PM-010 which links Manaus-Itacoatiara. As for analysis, Itacoatiara is a city of Amazonas which presents strong opportunities for positive development is the availability of natural resources (rivers, roads, forests and land) that can be incorporated into the political-economic development by big business or, as objective government action to strategic projects that bring the premises of sustainable development, the same way, the existence of infrastructure (port, airport, roads), the proximity to major international and the prospect of new public and private investments also reinforce more to its position of relevance in relation to the municipalities of the Middle Amazon and its role as a city in the current pattern of regional development.
