O livro didático de espanhol do ensino médio da escola pública de Manaus: um estudo de caso com foco na formação cidadã

Resumo

This research is the field of Applied Linguistics (AL) and its general objective was to investigate the perceptions of Spanish teachers regarding the textbook used in teaching Spanish as a modern foreign language at public high schools in Manaus, Brazil. The specific objective involved analyzing the teachers’ views regarding the textbook's emphasis on citizenship education. The discussion on the textbook was based on Richaudeau (1970), Munakata (2016), Sena (2016) and Paraquett (2018), among others. It was done an analyze of the historical trajectory of Spanish teaching materials based on Guimarães (2011) and Guimarães and Freitas (2018). The theoretical aspects about the Brazilian National Textbook Program were based on Rosa and Matos (2018), and about the teaching of Spanish in Northern Brazil, based on Guerreiro (2017), Heufemann (2019), and Teixeira (2014). Regarding questions about citizenship, the works of Ferreira, N. (1993) and Pinsky (1999; 2013) were considered. It was also addressed citizenship education in relation to high school (BRAZIL, 2000; 2006; 2017; 2018) and foreign language teaching and learning (CELANI, 2008; ROCHA; MACIEL, 2015; MONTEIRO, 2014; ARAÚJO; MONTEIRO, 2020). For methodological issues this research was based on the qualitative approach (CELANI, 2005; MINAYO, 2008) and case study (ANDRÉ, 2013; CHIZZOTTI, 2017). The study was conducted in schools that are part of the District Coordination of Education 1 and 4, from the State Department of Education and Teaching Quality of the state of Amazonas, Brazil (SEDUC/AM). The participants were high school teachers with a license degree in Spanish Language and Literature. The instruments which were used for data generation consist of Profile and Investigative Questionnaires. The results showed that teachers' perceptions about the textbook were limited to the book’s pedagogical role without considering it as an instrument for developing citizenship training in the classroom.
