História oral e interseccionalidade na trajetória de Maria Amélia dos Santos Castro: comunidades remanescentes de Quilombo do Rio Andirá - Barreirinha/ Am (2005-2022)

Abstract

This dissertation is about the trajectory of Maria Amélia dos Santos Castro, former president and currently vice-president of the Federation of Quilombola Organizations of the Municipality of Barreirinha. Born in Santa Tereza do Matupiri, on the Andirá River, Municipality of Barreirinha in the State of Amazonas, where the five remaining communities of Quilombo do Rio Andirá and their respective centers are located: Santa Tereza do Matupiri, Boa Fé, Itucuara (Pagoa and São Paulo do Açu), São Pedro and Trindade (São Marcos and Lirio do Vale centers), recognized in 2013 by the Palmares Foundation. We start from the analysis of intersectionality, bringing the studies of black feminism to verify the markers of oppression that are present in the trajectory of Maria Amélia dos Santos Castro, with the highlights of childhood and adolescence, adult life, marriages and insertion in the social movement quilombola, in the Federation of Quilombola Organizations of the Municipality of Barreirinha, from 2009 to 2022. We seek to identify the markers of oppression as a black woman, quilombola, solo mother, domestic worker and leader, crossed by gender and class relations. We dialogue with studies of emancipation and post-abolition in Brazil, studies of the remaining quilombo communities in Brazil, in Amazonas and research focused on the remaining quilombo communities of Andirá, with a view to the autobiography “Trails traversed by a militant quilombola: life, struggle and resistance” that deals with the trajectory of the subject of this research, which takes place from the perspective of Oral History methodology.
