Cuidados padronizados com dreno de tórax: aspectos técnicos e manejo

Resumo

BACKGROUND: Thoracic trauma is one of the most common causes of death, accounting for 20% to 25% of cases. It can be a blunt or penetrating. Most patients, 85%, can be properly treated only with a tube thoracostomy and management. Only 10 to 15% will require an emergency thoracotomy. Health care in patients with chest tube is performed by surgeons, nurses and physiotherapists. All the professionals who are part of the team have their own responsibilities. Why not share this knowledge with multidisciplinary teams composed of physicians, nursing staff and physiotherapists? And how can this knowledge be shared? OBJECTIVES: To publish a book about tube thoracostomy with subjects of interest and guidelines for multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nursing staff and physiotherapists. METHOD: A book was written after narrative review of literature with article search in the databases MEDLINE, LILACS and COCHRANE with research on the descriptors: Thorax, Chest injuries and Thoracostomy, review of specialized books and queries in international thoracic society, the book was submitted to peer review by the professors of the permanent staff of the Postgraduate Program in Surgery - PPGRACI - UFAM. RESULTS: The book was written and peer reviewed. It was recognized at the Copyright Office of the National Library Foundation with the Registration Number: 742.471, Book: 1.438, Sheet: 271. As an unpublished work. It was granted by the Brazilian ISBN Agency the number 978-85-906592- 3-5 for the book. It is in the process of being published by a national publisher. CONCLUSIONS: In the course of this work we have seen that trauma is considered one of the diseases that kill most in Brazil. In addition, a number of people face morbidities annually as a result of trauma. Efforts to standardize conduits and improve quality of care in trauma, quality improvement, are well accepted. To this end, the book Chest drain standardized care: technical aspects and management has been written and will be disseminated to educational institutions, medical and nursing residency services, trauma care professionals, and especially to professionals working in the interior of our country.
