Dos meandros dos rios aos meandros da lei : Cenários e políticas públicas voltadas à pessoa idosa no município de Tapauá/AM

Abstract

The world's population is aging rapidly, which has increasingly required attention from public policies. In Brazil, the scenario is similar: the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) predicts that by 2060, the elderly population will surpass that of children and young people up to 14 years of age. In this context, it is essential to develop and implement public policies aimed at promoting the quality of life of the elderly, guaranteeing their rights and protecting them from situations of vulnerability such as financial, physical, sexual abuse, among others. In this sense, the study had the following general objectives: To understand the current situation of the elderly population in the urban area of the municipality of Tapauá/Am. And as specific objectives: a) To identify, through the analysis of secondary data from the IBGE, whether the municipality follows the global trend of population aging; b) To understand how local managers have been preparing for this fact; c) To gather information about local policies aimed at the elderly, municipal laws, decrees, etc.; The study was developed in the municipality of Tapauá-AM, which according to the IBGE census (2022) has 19,599 inhabitants, of which 1,476 are elderly people divided between men and women. The methodology was carried out in four (04) stages: I) bibliographic review; II) Secondary data surveys; III) Field research; IV) Data analysis and interpretation. In this study, it was decided to use a methodological triangulation, since only one method would be incapable of helping to understand the enormous complexity involved in the theme. The municipality has a large support network for the elderly and social services that can be requested at CRAS, CREAS, SEMAS, INSS, SEMSA, CCI, among others. It can be concluded through this study that the municipality needs to (re)formulate its public policies such as the creation of new laws and decrees, according to the research techniques used, the population in general is unaware of the phenomenon of population aging which, unlike human aging, which presupposes understanding the totality of the human being, is limited to the concentration of elderly subjects in a population and spatial cutout, which in the studied location is occurring at an accelerated rate according to data collected from the last three demographic censuses.
