Resumo

In view of the constant budget cuts suffered by the Federal Institutions of Higher Education (IFES), guaranteeing the excellence and standardization of their services for the academic community is increasingly difficult, whether to maintain the level of quality of Teaching, Research and Extension for these offered, or even to increase vacancies and meet community demand. Assessing the effective efficiency of the institution's undergraduate courses, with the most varied specificities, will help in the distribution of resources and decision-making by public managers. Thus, this research aimed to evaluate the efficiency of the undergraduate courses of a given IFES. For that, descriptive research of a quantitative and documentary nature was carried out. To calculate the efficiency of the undergraduate courses, the non-parametric methodology Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was adopted, oriented to results and with variable returns to scale (DEA-BCC), which allows them to be evaluated in addition to efficiency, the weights of variables, targets and benchmarks of DMUs. In view of the results obtained, it is concluded that, among the 75 courses analyzed, only 25 (33.3%) were considered efficient by the standard efficiency, and that 50 of them (66.7%) were evaluated as inefficient, when evaluated by the composite efficiency only 17 (22.7%) were considered with efficiency above 80%. For courses considered less efficient, efficiency benchmarks and their respective quality indicators were determined so that they can be considered by the institution's managers. The relevance of the research is proven by the results obtained, providing a more in-depth monitoring by the public managers of IFES, to verify the efficiency and possible problems that would count the predetermined design.
