Senhoras do tempo: cotidiano, trabalho e ativismos de travestis e transexuais em Manaus (1992-2019)

Abstract

The present work seeks to recover the memories and the political actions of transvestites and transsexual activists in Manaus, between 1992 and 2019. We use Oral History as a methodology that enables the recording and analysis of individual memories, subjectivities, gender meanings, the importance political activism and the impact of these elements throughout life. We thus envision the trajectory of characters beyond hegemonic socio-cultural boundaries, viewing contradictions in the face of an exclusionary society, at the same time denouncing the State's omission in the construction of mechanisms of historical reparation to guarantee concrete trans citizenship to the population. And, precisely for that reason, we intend to open the possibility for other subjects to narrate their memories and to analyze them.
