Resumo

The teaching of Arts has undergone numerous modifications over time, among them is mainly the identification of new possibilities of approach in the classroom that aim to achieve a criticaltransformative education that is associated with the reality of students. Understanding the importance of the Arts discipline in the cognitive development processes of children and adolescents in Basic Education is fundamental to propose new discussions on this theme, whether in academic or school settings. Aiming at new pedagogical possibilities, the research presented in this paper has as its main goal to identify the pedagogical practice of Art teaching in 4th and 5th grade classes of the Elementary School of a school in the city of Manaus. Regarding the specific objectives, we sought to register the meanings of Amazonian culture portrayed in the lyrics of the toadas as a potential mediator for teaching and learning curriculum content, identify how the presence of music in the planning and teaching practice of teachers of the classes of the Elementary School occurs and develop a teaching resource with proposals for work for the 4th and 5th grades from the analysis and observations in the classroom. For this, the research was characterized as qualitative in nature, using the case study method and being carried out in a public school in the city of Manaus, Amazonas. The results show that despite being present in the school's pedagogical plan, music as a resource still needs to be (re)thought during the activities proposed to students, valuing its historical character, its tradition and culture. There is a need to value the Amazonian culture in the curriculum and school practices. The importance of new discussions regarding the teaching of Arts through active methodologies is highlighted, where students are the center of the learning process and who have a voice to achieve expression, recognition, participation and communication skills through different languages.
