Resumo
Defined as a typical cultural manifestation of web in the last decades, memes are presented as texts, images, videos, among other contents, that are intensely widespread and constantly recreated in the network. Thus, memes have been shown to be connected to various contexts of internet users and are fully immersed in the contemporary culture, as a complex and communicational phenomenon that goes beyond the mere aspect of “virtual play”. By understanding the memes as a relational phenomenon, we seek to deal with the semiosis of memes on web, in order to understand how its recoding processes works, in an ecosystemic perspective of the processes of communication in culture. For this, we first describe and explore memes as a complex phenomenon and from there we introduce the theoretical foundations of this work: web memes, as defined by authors like Limor Shifman, in her vision of collection of texts; the communicational ecosystems, which consist of a transdisciplinary view about the study object, as developed by works of the Graduate Program in Communication Sciences of the Federal University of Amazonas; and semiosis, which is understood here as communication, from authors like Charles S. Peirce and Irene Machado. Thereby, the research proposes a semiotic ecosystemic perspective, which is the basis for the later analysis of the semiosis of memes chosen by the #MUSEUdeMEMES project, from the Fluminense Federal University, in order to investigate how memes are recoded and actuate new contexts.
