Abrindo a caixa de Pandora: a saúde mental de discentes de um programa de pós-graduação da Universidade Federal do Amazonas - UFAM

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the possible elements that are configured as indices of mental illness of students of the Postgraduate Program in Social Work and Sustainability in the Amazon – PPGSS/UFAM. In this sense, some lines were drawn to identify such indices, with this the research reflected on the socioeconomic and cultural compositions of the inserted students; the ways of coping used in the face of the perspective of productivism at the university were evidenced and the (in)existence of student health care projects and programs, specifically aimed at Graduate students, was also discussed. In order to achieve the objectivity of the research, methodologically, it was chosen to carry out bibliographic, documentary and field research - in the virtual modality - through a digital questionnaire made possible through the Google Forms Platform. This study was conducted in line with a critical approach, considering both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Regarding the receipt of research data, electronic mail was made available. This study considered qualitative and quantitative approaches through bibliographic information, official government websites and subjects listed to contribute to the research. Data analysis was based on Bardin's content analysis and the orientation of the theoretical-methodological study was based on the historical-dialectical perspective. The main macro theoretical categories of the study are: Mental Health, Social Issues, Public Policies and University. With the completion of this study, it was estimated that interventions could be made in order to implement the constitution of programs and public policies aimed at the care and monitoring of students and newcomers of Postgraduate courses and, according to their performance, that this is extended to other areas of society.
