Resumo

The study on "The Meaning of Postgraduate Studies for Qualification of Basic Education Teachers in the State of Amazonas", aimed to identify, analyze and understand the meaning and contributions of postgraduate studies (Master’s Degree), for the training of teachers who work for the State Public Education of Amazonas, carried out through partnerships between SEDUC/AM, UFJF and UFAM, from 2013 to 2018, in compliance with Goal 16 of the State Education Plan - PEE. The research was carried out through a Case Study and had as a source of information: the theoretical references on the subject; the relevant legislation; and empirical data, which were captured through semi- structured interviews, with open and subjective questions, in order to contemplate the profiles of the subjects participating in the research: SDP – Public Director Subject; SCPG – Subject Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program; SPF – Trainer Teacher Subject and SPE – Graduate Teacher Subject. To understand the data, we used Discourse Analysis, considering the foundations of phenomenology and hermeneutics, and to qualitatively analyze them, we used the Collective Subject Discourse (DSC) technique. The meaning and contributions revealed by the study are reflected in the subjects' statements that the master’s degree enabled the acquisition of new knowledge and personal, professional and financial improvements. This result confirms the thesis raised “a priori”: The Post-Graduation in Stricto Sensu Level is also a space for continuing education for Basic Education teachers, because it allows for better ne qualification ne valorization and professional acting
