A poesia de Jorge Tufic: diálogo entre a tradição literária e a experimentação poética

Abstract

This dissertation approaches part of the poetic work of Jorge Tufic that corresponds to the books Varanda de pássaros (1956), Chão sem mácula (1966) and Faturação do ócio (1974). These are the poet's first three books, launched when he participated in the Clube da Madrugada, an artistic movement that in the 20th century sought to renew culture in the Amazon with ideas that were based not only on the aesthetics of the first two generations of modernism, but also on the generation of 45. It is believed that the poetic procedure of composing the poems of these works is heterogeneous and goes beyond the aesthetic renewal aspired by Brazilian modernism, arriving to have elements of classical poetry. For this reason, the poet's trajectory in Amazonas is analyzed by the modernist movement through a dialogical study. With this, the objective is to delineate the literary tradition and the poetic experimentation, responsible both for the presence of elements that indicate the continuity of the classic poetry as for the rupture of models, aesthetics and ideas of the same classic poetry. In this way, the idea is projected that the poetic work of Jorge Tufic is multifaceted. It is composed of processes that point to the cultivation of good poetry, to the renewal of poetic conceptions, and to the innovations that radically broke the traditional notions of poetry. In this sense, the books are evaluated from a temporal and historical reflection of modern poetry, resulting in the synthesis of the values that the poet affirms in his poems, as well as those he denies. This synthesis presents the lyrical trajectory of Jorge Tufic during Modernism, and exposes not only his poetic diction but also his contribution to the consolidation of modern literature in the Amazon.
