Introduction: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) was described in the literature in 1859 by the English physician Alfred Garrod as a systemic, chronic, autoimmune degenerative disease characterized by inflammation of the synovial membrane, affecting small joints. organs, in addition to common complications that RA can cause, which are progressive deformity, loss of function, joint wear, tendon rupture and cervical instability. There is no cure for RA, in addition to the possibility of developing psychological problems, generating undesirable consequences, associated with mood disorders, anxiety and depression. Materials and Methods: Refers to a retrospective, cross-sectional and observational study with data obtained from the platform of the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS), using the 2013 National Health Survey (PNS), covering all accessible regions, the age range was at least 18, for both sexes. Results: In total, 81,767 households were interviewed throughout the Brazilian territory. It was estimated that 7,6% of people aged 18 and over were diagnosed with depression by a mental health professional. The highest rate of RA diagnosis according to sex and region, with greater evidence in the southern region being females (11,0%), and in the northern region the highest rate being males (4,3%). The highest rate of medical diagnosis of depression in patients with RA according to region, with greater evidence in the southern region with 32,3%, it can be seen that people who have a medical diagnosis of depression due to RA, only 22,80 % does physical activity, 24% undergoes physiotherapeutic care. Conclusion: In conclusion, the present study shows the rate of individuals diagnosed with RA are diagnosed with depression, with a prevalence offemales in the southern region and males in the northern region.
