Resumo
Arthur Engrácio was a tale writer who achieved great expression in the literature scene produced in Amazonas. In his narratives, he used to give great importance to the urban setting and he also focused on the several ills of life in the city. The present research has been carried out with the aim of analyzing human-related conflicts as they were presented and fictionalized by Engrácio. Therefore, there has been an effort in order to track the narrative strategies used by the author to operate such fictionalization, investigating in which ways they contribute with the literary quality of those texts, the main one being metaphor. The theoretical contribution includes reflection on fictional art as a recreation of reality in the sense of determining the main lines of fiction and literary work. Also, there was an incursion into books that aim to explain how the city`s imaginary is constructed in literature and how blatant episodes of urban places are captured by fiction writer for the making of their narratives. Through the concept of brutalist literature, the images of violence and the underwork of the pariahs into which cities end up being transformed are analyzed. Above all, it focuses on domination and power related to the female body, engendering the false moralism that underlies many crimes of femicide. All these concepts are applied to the analysis of Engracian tales, in order to show how human miseries soak up the author's urban narratives.
