Programas de pós-graduação stricto sensu em enfermagem na região Norte do Brasil: formação de recursos humanos qualificados

Resumo

INTRODUCTION: Brazilian Postgraduate Programs, among them Nursing Programs, are structured in concentration areas, research lines, research projects and research groups. Although the evolution of graduate programs is a national reality, their distribution does not occur equally among the regions of the country. The relevance of Brazilian nursing in the international context can be evidenced by its scientific production, which also signals the growth of graduate studies in this area. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the contribution of Postgraduate Nursing Programs in the Northern Region in the formation of qualified human resources. METHODS: A documental, descriptive and quantitative study. The four Postgraduate nursing programs in the stricto sensu modality in the Northern region were analyzed; the scientific production of permanent and visiting professors of these programs, as well as the dissertations of the graduates of two Academic Master's Courses. The data were collected in the Sucupira/CAPES platform and in the curriculum in the Lattes/CNPq platform. The data were collected between the months of August and December 2020 and analyzed using descriptive statistics. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: The Northern region of the country has four postgraduate programs in nursing, both located in Amazonas and Pará. The programs have 57 permanent faculty members, of which 04 are visiting faculty. Of the permanent faculty members, 94.3% are nurses, 3.8% are psychologists, and 1.9% are physicians; 75.4% did their undergraduate studies in the North region; 58.5% graduated with a PhD in Nursing (basic area), 62% in institutions in the Southeast region of the country; 73.6% of the permanent faculty members did not do a post-doctoral internship. The postgraduate programs in nursing have 53 permanent faculty members and 04 visiting faculty members. In the period 2016-2020, the four postgraduate programs in nursing published 512 articles. Of the published articles, 72.7% were of the research type, followed by review and experience report with percentages of 13.5% and 8.2%, respectively. Regarding QUALIS, it was observed that 29.3% (150) of the publications belong to journals classified as B2, followed by A2 and B4 journals, with percentages of 25.6% (131) and 19.9% (102), respectively. Among the Nursing journals, the following stand out: Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem (14.1%), Revista de Enfermagem UFPE Online (13.1%) and the Enfermagem em Foco journal (12.1%). A total of 186 dissertations were also analyzed, 59.7% (111) belonging to postgraduate program in nursing A and 40.3% (75) to postgraduate program in nursing B. Of the dissertations, 48.4% were qualitative approach studies, 45.2% were quantitative approach studies, and 6.4% were mixed approach studies. 26.3% of the participants were patients, followed by nurses (19.4%), elderly people (10.2%), family (5.4%), and children and adolescents (5.4%). Regarding study sites, 48.4% were in Hospital Institutions and 29.6% were carried out in Primary Health Care Units. CONCLUSION: Knowing the scenario of Postgraduate Programs in Nursing in the North region of Brazil is relevant since it contributes to the reorientation of policies and practices. The strengthening and expansion of programs in the North Region certainly contributes to the increase of scientific production linked to its context, in addition to proposing modes of care congruent with the health needs of its population.
