Relações de poder no interior das conjugalidades: a face oculta da violência contra as mulheres atendidas no SAPEM Manaus - Am

Abstract

This dissertation presents the discussion about power relations within the spouses. The relevance of this study is justified by the need to create public policies of preventive character able to inhibit the practice of violence against women within marriage. Through this study, the goal is to analyze the many faces of violence suffered by women served by the Emergency support service women (SAPEM). It is also proposed, to find out how women experience violence within marital relations and the elements that they consider power relationship. The work assumes the theoretical and methodological contribution of qualitative approaches, including quantitative data, with the locus of research the SAPEM, which is one of the institutions that make up the network of attention to women in the State of Amazonas. As investigative tool, we use the contribution of semi-structured interview with ten female victim of marital violence-prone and with three SAPEM professionals, being a Social worker, a psychologist and a lawyer. All subjects were identified by fictitious names to meet ethical criteria. As for multiple results, this study pointed out that the sense of ownership of the male subject about the female subject trailer unequal power relations within marriage is the triggering of different forms of violence practiced against women. It was evidenced that the female subject demonstrates afraid to sever the relationship with your spouse due to your subaltern condition in which lives. There was also the need to make changes on the part of the competent organs that make up the network as the improvement of the service offered by the station specialized in Crimes against women, as well as in the justice system that works in defence of women's rights. Finally, it is believed that this study can take a reflection on spousal abuse, and thus guide State and civil society in building alternatives able to sensitize women to break the cycle of violence to live new perspectives of life while women with rights.
