Resumo

The present essay is a reflection proposal motivated by the experience lived by the author as a researcher and extensionist at the Amazonas State. The relation between scientist and his research object is one of the key points of this study, viewed by the perspective of the “decoloniality of knowledge, how this relationship engenders and reproduces the social stigmas, as the caboclo identity. What is the role of Environmental Sciences in chancelling this behavior and at the same time be the answer to remedy such reproduction of a social hierarchy founded on precarious relations developed since a Brazil colonization? It is also the theme of this essay or the conformation of science as an institution in this country presenting Eurocentric origin and how such inheritance still influence how we make science now a days, specifically in Environmental Sciences, focus of this work. In order to investigate such questions a bibliometric research was developed in articles related to the "caboclos" of the Amazon based on Environmental Sciences. This research was grounded on the article by Brondizio (et al 2016), which relates climate change and the social context through the analysis of scientific production. This research was based on the Periódicos Capes platform, which is provided by the Brazilian Government, to all institutions of higher education in Brazil. A total of 44 papers written by authors of different nationalities and institutions were analyzed. Through this research was possible to stablish a relationship with national and international publications; scientific publishers; the importance of fieldwork; the relationship between researcher and research subject; the historic of Environmental Sciences and sustainability; the Brazilian popular culture and the possibilities of a more inclusive and diverse science.
