Processos socioartísticos em Moacir Andrade: estilo e artes plásticas na Amazônia

Abstract

This thesis deals with the studies of the socio-artistic processes in the art style of the Amazonian artist Moacir Andrade, from the analysis of his drawings and paintings. Nevertheless, the literary production of Moacir Andrade is taken as support for the analyzes. It starts from the semiospheric point of view, taking the semiosphere concept of Iuri Lomtan (1996), for the study of the style and its socio-artistic processes, based on a three-dimensional category of style, namely: the formal dimension, the dimension of history and the sociocultural dimension, understanding as constituents of a space of relations in the work of work. Thus, the figure of the artist is taken as "intellectual artisan", meaning the multiple qualities of Moacir Andrade, being the concept of style, the guiding thread of research. The research universe was based on the artistic-visual work of Moacir Andrade, thus, the visual production was delimited as a corpus from the 1930s. The data collection was based on bibliographical and documentary sources, as well as collections from institutions public and private. This thesis was structured in three chapters. The first chapter presents the personal, academic, professional and artistic trajectory of Moacir Andrade, his work in this field in the city of Manaus, as well as his national and international trajectory in the field of art in order to qualify the object of study. In the second chapter, the problematic of the concept of style existing in studies of works of art is approached, for this, it is based on a survey of the historical changes that occurred with the word "style" and its use in the field of art, reaching a theoretical proposal. Finally, in the third chapter, we deal with the socio-artistic processes in Moacir Andrade's art, analyzing the artist's work, his drawings and paintings, from the formal point of view. It is proposed a discussion on the socio-artistic processes in the artist's work, seeking to understand the representation of the Amazon in his work, especially his relation with the city of Manaus, aiming to understand the relations established between the work, the artist and the city of Manaus, for that, it takes as background of the figure flâneur and of the narrator.
