Resumo
Pavements are subjected to dynamic loads resulting from various vehicle loading combinations and environmental conditions. The performance of asphalt concretes in terms of linear viscoelastic behavior can be predicted using the stress-strain behavior that can be
defined by the complex modulus. Among the most modern options for obtaining them are
four-point flexion tests. In this context, the present work aimed to study the mechanical
behavior of asphalt mixtures produced with pure and pulverized graphite in the high energy
mill (MAE), by means of the four-point bending test. The experimental program consisted of
the production of prismatic specimens of traditional asphalt mixtures (CA-REF) and
alternative mixtures (CA-GRAFP, CA-GRAFM), which were subjected to testing on the
Pneumatic 4 Point Bending Apparatus equipment. The methodology followed the
recommendations of the European standard EN 12697-26: Bituminous mixtures - test
methods for hot mix asphalt, part 26: Stiffness, with uniaxial compression sine loading, strain
amplitude of 50 μm / m, under the frequencies of 0.1 Hz, 0.2 Hz, 0.5 Hz, 1 Hz, 2 Hz, 5 Hz, 10
Hz, 20 Hz and test temperatures from 0 ° C to 40 ° C in 5 ° C increments. The values obtained showed that asphalt composites produced with graphite registered the best results for complex modulus as the phase angle, compared to the reference formulation.
