Amazônia: democracia em tempos de fake news

Abstract

This study seeks to understand the influence of fake news in the context of the public debate on the Amazon during the government of former President Jair Messias Bolsonaro between 2019 and 2022, emphasizing the political and ideological bias and the power of the discourse contained in this false information., and also understanding how they managed to become a mass manipulation tool capable of using discourse to achieve their goals. The French Discourse Analysis was supported by the work “Power of discourse” by the French philosopher Michel Foucault with the help of studies and research by several authors who follow this line for the understanding of hate speech, fake news and post truths. This discourse benefited from domains, websites, applications and tools that tolerated not only the destruction of the Amazon, but a direct attack on democracy, in addition to the methods used for an extraordinary reach of shares, benefiting from hate speech aimed at enticing users through the power of algorithms, which suggested friendships, content and news among participants that aroused the same interests. We seek to expose through data, research and reports the .the destruction of the Amazon. As a result of a disastrous government, the Bolsonarist legacy remains, which was born in hundreds of deaths of Yanomami indigenous people, political instability, weakening of the Manaus Free Trade Zone, incentives for loggers and miners who created for the destruction of the Amazon Forest.
