Gerenciamento de resíduos eletrônicos: estudo da atuação de empresas e de grupos de consumidores na cadeia pós-consumo no município de Itacoatiara – Am

Abstract

Consumption of electronic products increases significantly in each new year, and, consequently, there is an increase in e-waste. Improper disposal of this type of waste can cause damage to the environment and human health. To minimize the volume of solid waste there is a National Policy that shares the responsibility among manufacturers, importers, traders, consumers and government representatives. In Amazonas State the solid waste policy is being implemented. This research aims to evaluate the actions of management of e-waste in consumers and companies in Itacoatiara-AM with a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative). The reverse logistic of electronic products, instituted in the National Solid Waste Policy, is in the process of discussion of a specific sector agreement for its implementation. Interviews with consumers have been conducted in order to obtain information on electronic waste disposal and with business owners to know how the waste management occurs. An important result of the research shows that the management of electronic waste in Itacoatiara-AM is not in accordance with the National Policy on Solid Waste. Therefore, the importance of this study is the generation of information that may be useful to support the process of implementation of municipal actions for the management of solid electronic waste among consumers, companies and recyclable waste collectors.
