Identidade em construção: história e memória de judeus no Amazonas

Abstract

This research accomplishes one analyzes of the process of construction of the ethnic identity of the Jews in the state of Amazon, during twentieth century. This analyzes is accomplished with base in the memory of some Jews and descending, and starting from elements contained in the Israeli press and in the local press. In this research, we evidenced the importance of the Jew as historical subject, whose social experience is part of yours lives individual and collective. Like this, we understood the experience as aspects of the life, of the culture and of the social relationships engendered by the Jews in different contexts. For besides the organization forms and of the physical dimension of their institutions, they interest us, therefore, developed social processes, social and community relationships that you/they are shown in form of conflicts and negotiations. The Jewish identity, as well as the other processes, comes as a social construction, whose memory while element subjectivity, acts directly in his/her dynamics and meaning.
