Resumo
In the context of inclusive education, one of the themes to be highlighted concerns the provision of Developmental Coordination Disorder (pDCD). It is correct to consider that the practice of inclusive education in terms of this and other developmental disorders in students transcends the creation of laws that can ensure access to quality educational services. This encompasses the adoption of pedagogical strategies, teacher training, adequate teaching resources and other factors that can contribute to the permanence and progress of students with Developmental Coordination Disorder. The general objective of the study is to characterize the school performance of children identified with pDCD. The specific objectives were 1) To identify elementary school children with pDCD; 2) Identify reading levels in children identified with pDCD; 3) Identify writing levels in children identified with pDCD. 30 children who turned 07 to 10 years old from 03 public schools in Itacoatiara-Am participated in the research. It is considered a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. As a collection instrument, the MABC-2 motor battery, the Checklist and the School Performance Test II were used. To verify the normality of the data, use the Shapiro Wilk test. The results showed 25% (30) children identified as pDCD; and 18 (60%) of the participating population presented (Severe and Moderate Deficit) below-expected performance for their respective schooling phase in reading and writing skills. The findings of this research reinforce the need to extend the debates on pTDC in the school context and in the Amazonian context, since this condition has effects on student performance. As a suggestion for future studies, we suggest an investigation into the socioeconomic aspects of students with pDCD, as well as the proposition and applicability of an intervention plan for children with pDCD, through a longitudinal study.
