A formação da liderança KAPI entre os Sateré-Mawé/AM

Resumo

The work aimed to explore processes built internally by the Amerindians of Andirá-Marau. These processes although not uniformly existing, remain cohesive, strong, open to change and transformation. The problem investigated originates in the idealization (by the majority of the population) of a fossilized indigenous, who lived in the past, with permanent characteristics of nomadic peoples, without organization, technology and culture. An ideal reinforced by conquering chroniclers (Portuguese and Spanish), described in their travel diaries. These travelers highlighted the nudity and rudimentary dwellings, with superior looks, pointing out projects of civility, modernity and disruption of the social system of the indigenous peoples of the place. The Western heritage, built historically and imbued with the miscegenated population, continued to operate within an old practice of discriminating against native peoples, which fostered the spread of misconceptions, prejudices, perpetuating discrimination and social division. In this scenario, what brought indigenous society closer to the ancestral past and the descendants today were adaptations that they had to make to keep alive generations from now, showing flexibility to the adversities imposed, which proves the strength coming from a dynamic culture susceptible to change.
