Caracterização das Propriedades da Fibra Vegetal de Arumã para aplicação como reforço a Matriz Cimentícia.

Abstract

In recent decades, researches involving the application o f natural products have occurred with more intensity, using the benefits of forests with the rational use of this resource. It is presented in this paper, from a technical and scientific base, an evaluation of the capability of Arumã vegetable fiber with possibilities to reinforce cementitious matrix, since the fibers improve some of the characteristics of this composite, with a lower cost in relation to the use of fibers conventionally utilized. The Arumã, found in the Amazon biome, is a species of the genus Ischnosiphon polyphyllus of the Marantaceae family, and herbaceous, perennial herbs, rhizomatous and caulescent. These fibers are widely used by the tradition people of the Northern Region in handicrafts and construction. The consolidation of the resear ch was made through the physics, chemistries and mechanics experiments carried out in the vegetable Arumã fibers. Where this fiber was used to the reinforcement of cementitious matrix, which performance was evaluated by physics and mechanics experiments in composite plates with Arumã fiber. The experiments showed the potential of this fiber for reinforcement of cementitious matrix.
