Proposta de um modelo de gestão de permanência de alunos com base na avaliação dos dados de evasão de uma IES privada: um estudo de caso

Abstract

The objective of this study is to propose a model for the management of student permanence, based on the causes that motivated students to drop out of undergraduate courses at a Private Higher Education Institution - IES, in the city of Porto Velho / RO. It was intended to survey the number of students dropped out by periods and courses in recent years and to assess the impact of dropouts on IES management decisions. To meet the objective of the study, an exploratory and descriptive methodology with documentary analysis, qualitative and quantitative approach and case study was chosen. A questionnaire was used as a data collection tool for dropout students from the second semester of 2018 and the first semester of 2019. In the case studied, several variables were identified that motivated students to abandon the courses, however, four more relevant causes were pointed out: financial factors , unavailability of time, transfer to another HEI and change of city. The results pointed to the need to strengthen the strategies, focusing on the permanence of the student, in order to reduce dropout rates that generate impacts on management. In this way, a permanence management model for the researched HEI is proposed.
