Resumo
Redempção (1924-1932) should be acknowledged as one of the main expressions of cultural environment in Manaus in the 1920’s and 1930’s, mainly due to the hatching of political rebellions during this period. Around this publication, a varied number of local authors gathered from different esthetic and ideological tendencies, to whom conferred a crucial role for the public debate about political and literary subjects in a time of redefinition of national and local order. In the articles, novels and debates indicated in their pages, it is possible to outline a profile for different authors intending to legislate with more legitimacy about most pressing cultural and political subjects, translating the magazine as a true resort of intellectual consecration. Matters pertaining to literal language issues, for example, demonstrate how Redempção reflected the intellectual began to define concepts of nationalism and “Brazility” in a more solidified approach. Clovis Barbosa, to that end, was the central author to articulate an entire debate that, after all, delineated an intellectual field in Manaus.
