Resumo

Volunteering has received special attention since 2001, when the United Nations imposed as the year of volunteering . The membership of this practice has increased in organizations, events, acts and/or independent work. The theoretical framework in psychology on volunteering is scarce and remains in explaining the practice linked to health and always with the focus on the person receiving the act and not the volunteer. This study pretended to contribute and mainly comprise a facet of the volunteer: "care" from the perspective of the volunteer. I intend to find the meanings that actors give to the voluntary in spontaneous way and voluntary act that is independent of an audience only . Audio recorded interviews with eleven people who have volunteering as a common practice in their lives from the questions " How volunteering entered your life? / What is the meaning of care for you?" . From the consequences of triggering questions, I wanted to understand the meanings of care in this practice as well, Being - With the volunteer in this relationship . In order to contribute to the literature by transmitting from the speeches, the importance of volunteering and caring for different personal and relational mechanisms, by the results, cathegories were built: "Temporalizing", "Be-in-the-world-being-volunteer: the experience of caring and care", "The volunteer dimension", "Resignifying" and "Be-Volunteer". All with subcategories that wer submitted to Comprehensive Analysis , in light of Existential - Phenomenology of Martin Heidegger. Volunteers brought as the main sense of desire to do good to each other and the personal need to care for and give themselves to the other person, with no other gain, thereby exposing the experience of care and its most essential form
