Resumo
This paper describes and analyzes the process of implementing a Agroextractive Settlement Project (PAE) in the island of Baixio in Iranduba in Amazonas state. This settlement was established on an island and floodplain brings elements that realize a process of signification and redefinition of the local territory, since its creation occur with changes in land use policy and a reorganization around its implementation. Its creation also serves as a backdrop for
understanding the changes in the way of action of the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (INCRA), responsible for implementing the policies of agrarian reform in
Brazil, and the Department of Heritage (SPU) responsible for the administration of public property of the Union, these institutions are to adopt the discourse on environmental programs and projects, like the project tenure and land reform in the floodplain. Attempts to demonstrate this process from the calling process of greening of institutions and understanding of environmental changes occurring on the island from the perception of the peasants. The results were obtained from an ethnographic experience substantiated on participant observation, in informal conversations, semi-structured interviews and
documentary research. This work is not just a mere reproduction of discourses of the actors involved, but the interpretation of the various categories and elements involved in this process.
