Resumo
The present research aims to contemplate the study of the double theme in the short stories “Tigrela”, “WM” and “A mão no ombro”, present in the book Seminário dos Ratos (1977), by the Brazilian author Lygia Fagundes Telles. A bibliographical analysis about the double in the cosmogonic myths was made, within the fantastic literature and in its trajectory in the literature through the centuries, that culminated in the idea of fragmentation of the I correlated to the psychological studies in vogue in century XIX. The three stories were analyzed, trying to understand how the double was created by the author in each of them. In “Tigrela” it is possible to understand the double from four perspectives: from animality, as an allegory to an abusive relationship, to a question of undeclared homosexuality and to the persecutor double. In “WM”, the understanding of the double reaffirms what the psychoanalyst Otto Rank has deepened, about the double as denial of death, not of the protagonist, but of the object of affection. In “A mão no ombro”, the double manifests itself in the scenarios and time used in the narrative, a time of its own, as well as using the double as a denial of one's own death. Thus, it has been realized that the double in the work of Lygia Fagundes Telles is created with varied meanings.
