Resumo

The objective of this research is to insert a bristle pressing machine changing the production of a manual model for a machining. The machine is intended for a group of young and adults with Syndrome Down that is organized and governed by a tutor who leads 23 individuals at APAE-AM. The work methodology is considered as applied and exploratory. Ergonomic and anthropometric studies were adopted and applied to the group of young people with Syndrome Down in order to specifically serve this target audience. The study presents a series of data collection on work activities performed by young people with Syndrome Down, characterizing it as Action Research. Methodological procedures were used in the design stage that resulted in the homologation of engineering sheets. He went through the construction phase with discarded material coming from the tasks adopted at a technical school of one of the disciplines of machining SENAI schools. After built it underwent several tests and then inserted into the process of producing household brooms. The objectives were achieved and after past stages of setting the young people with the new equipment, production rates increased. It stands out a greater added value, since the product that went through a standardization. Production engineering, through the tools aimed at quality and productivity, can intervene in the man-machine-to-machine question and identify where the interventions, not only of the design and production engineering and social inclusion of these young, sometimes unassisted, could have taken place. The equipment is protected by patent and characterized as innovation in addition to being in full operation.
