A topofilia na formação do berço hídrico do caboclo amazônico urbano: o elo afetivo indivíduo-ambiente

Abstract

This study has its relevance in the attempt to find the way back to a more intimate and respectful practice of the Amazonian man with the natural environment. In this regard, the lens of perception emerges, supported by the concept of Topophilia – the affective link between the person and the physical place or physical environment – described by Tuan (1980). The referred author discusses the space-person relationship, evoking the sentimental and environmental values intrinsic in this process, such considerations being the substratum of the present investigation of the (non) existent of this affective link between the Amazonian man and his space. Thus, it is confirmed that the subject of this thesis was the transformations that took place in the Manaus' urban water resources. – mainly in the igarapé/small stream Mindu, the locus of the research – as a result, among other factors, of public policies. It was, therefore, necessary to investigate what information and conduct are woven between citizens (active in the school) and public managers – carried out through semi-structured interviews and application of forms – in view of the socio-environmental reality of water resources in the city of Manaus and, in a broader context, its environmental perception. At the heart of the research emerges the expressiveness of the water artery of the urban Amazonian caboclo in which, possibly, experiences, memories and feelings from other times and places are still pulsating. At its core, research unveils the multiple and diverse nature of the individual and signals that the sum and junction of this multiplicity are carried out, possibly, on its personal and affective part, consolidating itself as an indispensable amalgam of expanded human expressiveness. Faced with such considerations, the proposition of topophilic indicators that will contribute to the sustainability of water resources begins,as well as, on the foundation of a society committed to nature. Thus, converging to a critical and citizen posture, guided by more humanized policies.
