Resumo
This research is about the Letters written by the Munduruku people in Pará State, Brazil, regarding their struggle to protect and demarcate their territory and prevent the construction of hydroelectric dams in the Tapajós River. I understand that these Letters are part of the process of resistance of this people to the Federal Government projects planned around their territories, forming an important tool of mobilization for the guarantee of their rights. The Letters published on the internet show how the Munduruku formulate their questions and self-represent in a broad political debate. They are also a form of communication with national and international society, being a clear and urgent manifestation of the people's protagonism in this struggle, and representative of their search for a space of speech and agency in the National political debate regarding the infrastructure projects for the Amazon. As an ethnographic material, the Letters also demonstrate the articulation and translation realized by the Munduruku about the different worlds and existences that affect them, expressing an interethnic interlocution in which the Munduruku form a communication network capable of creating allies for their claims.
