Resumo
The current research analyses the politics fostered by the Sanitary Service Regulations, on the struggle against yellow fever, malaria and tuberculosis, between the years of 1891 and 1920. Verifying the public health actions toward the urban areas in the city of Manaus, our hypothesis is that this institutional instrument worked as a regulating and civilizing element toward the social space in the city. That s the scenario in which we propose to understand the theme of public health conveyed by the administrative and functional organizations of the various regulations that ruled the public health in the city of Manaus on the that period. We searched perspectives for the historical understanding about some clinical pictures in that moment. Thus, the range actions of the State and sanitarian physicians responsible for the accomplishment of the intervening actions that were imposed on the social frame of the city. These help to understand the outset of the legislation process toward wealth care for the city of Manaus in the early Republic.
