Produção do guaraná (Paullinia Cupana): monopolização do território pelo capital no município de Barreirinha/AM

Abstract

The present work analyzes the process of guaraná production and the monopolization of the territory by the monopolizing agents, located in the city of Parintins/AM, in a commercial perspective. The knowledge that we have about guaraná in the Amazon is since the seventeenth century, and the main connoisseurs of the plant are the indigenous Sateré - Mawé, who already had trade relations, but from the nineteenth and twentieth century, these relations have become more evident, the Indians themselves began to establish policies for the marketing of guarana. To understand the Monopolization under the aspects (social, economic and political), for this it was necessary field research in the year 2019, 2020 and 2021; meeting with farmers; semi-structured form; cameras, notebook for notes; tables for comparison of data; interviews with middlemen, institutions representatives of the Consórcio Sateré- Mawé and bibliographic readings. The production of guaraná has a potentiality for the cosmetics industry, Consortium, Associations, Dealers and Company are involved in the process of commercialization of guaraná, the peasant is the main supplier of this raw material, because they use the products derived from the biodiversity, since the connection that peasants establish with the geographical space is for their survival, and their production serves primarily to meet their material and symbolic needs. The choice of the productive location is important in the organization of the territory and also in its use, the guaraná production has a strong influence in the peasants' way of life and mainly for the French company Guaiampy Tropical, Italian NGO, Comerzio para il Terceiro Mund, and Beraca.
