Reordenamento territorial e conflitos agrários em Presidente Figueiredo – Amazonas

Abstract

This dissertation presents a discussion of the territorial reorganization and agrarian conflicts arising from the dispute and coexistences between landowners and squatters in the city of Presidente Figueiredo - Amazonas. The first chapter is a discussion of the transformations in the field in this century. The second one is an analysis of the territory occupation that are related to the Indigenous people Waimiri-Atroari and major infrastructure , mining, and land projects that settled in the region. The last chapter refers to the process of occupation by squatters and the conflicts with the titular landowners of the land, where we present the results of the survey data in two rural communities in the city (Santo Antônio do Abonari Community and Terra Santa Community), ending with a discussion of the legal issues involved in land conflicts.
