Transformações ambientais e socioculturais na Terra Indígena Jiahui em decorrência da construção da BR230/Transamazônica

Abstract

The present study aimed to identify the environmental and socio-cultural changes in the Jiahui Indigenous Land caused by the construction of BR230/Transamazônica.The work was developed through bibliographic and documentary research, with a qualitative approach. The methodological strategies adopted for data analysis were linked to Thematic Analysis, categorizing each environmental and sociocultural transformation that took place in the Jiahui Indigenous Land. According to the data analyzed, BR230/Transamazônica brought permanent impacts, both for the environment and for the Jiahui population; the most significant transformation was the change in their traditional cultural habits. It was also possible to verify the preservation relationship that these indigenous people have with the environment, since, after the resumption of their territory, there was a significant change in their forest area, in the sense of better conservation. The analysis reveals that the indigenous people relate to the environment in a way that, in addition to the physical environment, involves their entire history, trajectory and culture.
