Resumo

This research work raises a evaluation about the school contents curriculum and its relation to the local background and acknowledge, in this specific case, the ones observed in the Parintins citry, in the State of Amazonas. The work presents as main objective an investigation about the relevance of local backgroung that should be refered in the school gradeas a perspective to review and provide new meanings to the school contents. The research assumed a qualitative approach, by doing a case study at the Lila Maia county school, using four teachers that act in the 5th year group of fundamental school, specifically, by using a semi-structured interview approach and non-participant observation. By doing so, after the analysis and discussion about results, it was possible to note in the speech and practices of school contents, that still there is a traditional vision and a traditional definition of contents, what is included in a conservative cultural perspective, that establishes the knowledge as a fact, as information. The local background are approached in isolated cases within the History and Geografy disciplines, what make them superficial and without the proper context. Eventhough teachers affirm they try to work the local themes articulated to formal disciplines contents, they do not demonstrate to understand the real meaning and social mission of the school curriculum related to the need of capitalization of local background, in order to go beyond the knowledge proposed in the formal curriculum. However, people, students that live in Parintins have got an amount of knowledge that have a particular importance in the learning processes. It is necessary to focus in a pedagogy that could highlight the local background in a very dynamic way and full of significance, for every culture is constituted by the ways that backgrounds are produced. The research confirmed that it is necessary reevaluate the concepts, the meanings of local teaching practices done to local social groups, and show the importance of comunities in the building of backgound and speaches within the school curriculum. It is very relevant that the student recognizes and take property and recognize himself as part of the context where he lives. Ann this place is the Amazonia, specifically the region known as baixo Amazonas , in the city of Parintins.
