Objective: To elaborate a manual for Nursing Consultation for the deaf person in
Primary Health Care. Methodology: methodological study with a qualitative approach
using Convergent Care Research, as it is a method that provides convergence
between research and health care, which followed the design phases;
instrumentalization; scrutiny and analysis. The study was carried out in Primary Health
Care, in Manaus-Amazonas, and had the participation of 8 nurses. Data collection was
carried out from August to November 2022, with two convergence groups, which took
place in person, and lasted between 40 and 60 minutes each group. In the first
convergence group, the necessary data collection was carried out for the collective
elaboration of the manual to support the first stage of the Nursing Process, mediated
by a semi-structured instrument with questions that favored identifying the necessary
elements to support the elaboration of a manual to support the nurse/deaf person
communication during the first stage of the nursing process. In the second
convergence group, the prototype was presented with a view to prior evaluation of the
manual by service professionals. The study complied with the ethical precepts of
research with human beings, having been approved by the Research Ethics
Committee under Opinion No. 5181,999. The analysis of the participants' statements
was carried out using Bardin's Content Analysis, where the categories that served as
the basis for the preparation of the manual emerged. Results: two categories
emerged: 1) Nursing Care for the Deaf Person: frustrations and attempts to
communicate with the deaf person and 2) The nursing process: expectations regarding
the implementation of a communication manual with the deaf person in Primary Health
Care. Based on this information, the Manual for the Nursing Consultation for the Deaf
Person in Primary Health Care was prepared, a Technical Technological Product to
support the first stage of the Nursing Process. Final Considerations: The elaborated
manual has the potential to support the first stage of the Nursing Process and
represents an important tool for the nurse's work process, reducing the barrier in the
nurse/deaf person communication. Although Libras is a national language, it has
specific signs for each region, so that the content of the manual proposed here refers
to the set of signs relevant to the communication of deaf people in the Amazon, thus
contemplating the Amazonian context.
