Resumo

Introduction: The safety culture of the patient is a fundamental component for the development of actions taken on the quality of health services. Its evaluation allows identifying areas in need of intervention for safety and quality of care. Objective: To evaluate the patient safety culture among nurses, nursing technicians and community health agents of the family health program. Method: A descriptive, cross - sectional study with a quantitative approach, conducted with health professionals who work in the health district of the south region of the city of Manaus, state of Amazonas. It was used for data collection the Medical Office Survey on Patient Safety Culture form, adapted and validated for the Portuguese language. To obtain the sample, the stratified sampling technique was used, with a 95% of confidence margin and 5% of sample error. The categorical data were presented through tables with simple and relative absolute frequencies and mean and standard deviation for the quantitative data when it accepts the hypothesis of data normality using the Shapiro-Wilk test. In the crossing of the variables was still applied the chi-square test. For the comparison of means, the Variance Analysis test was applied. Scores equal to or greater than 75% were considered positive. The software used in data analysis was SPSS version 21 for Windows. The significance level fixed for the application of the statistical tests was 5%. Results: 283 professionals participated in the study, of which 38 (13.42%) were nurses, 66 (23.32%) were nursing technicians and 179 (63.25%) were community health agents. The mean in the overall evaluation of the patient safety culture was 71.6 for nurses, 66.5 for nursing technicians and 67.6% for community health agents, and it was considered adequate. The dimensions “Working as a team" and "Patient care follow-up" presented higher scores. The dimensions "Open communication", "Team training", "Management support in patient safety" and “Pressure at work and rhythm" were the areas that presented weaknesses. Conclusion: the study identified evidence that points to an evaluation of the patient's safety culture in the perception of nurses, nursing technicians and community health agents who are part of the ESF team in the city of Manaus.
