A importância dos Ecossistemas Comunicacionais para a atuação da Biblioteca Universitária

Abstract

This paper discusses the University Libraries' use intending to fulfill their societal role currently required from the ecosystem perspective of communication, taking into consideration the systemic and informational complexity. The following fundamental question is: What is the relevance of the Communicational Ecosystems for the transformation of University Libraries based on communication and learning spaces and therefore satisfying their social role in contemporary times? This paper intends to analyze the importance of the Communicational Ecosystems in the achievement of the University Library to fulfill its social role. The proposed intent has the following clear objectives: To understand from the historical perspective of the University Library its communicative relationship as an integral part of the academic community; To establish ecosystem connections to configure the University Library as a public and open organization, and as a space for communication and learning; To present two models of University Library to act in an integrated way to society, resolving the contemporary challenges. To achieve this result, the study was developed based on the qualitative approach, through theoretical studies using documentary and bibliographic research, establishing relationships between the variables through descriptive research. It is argued that the perception of the University Library as a space for communication and learning is directly related to the interactions and dialogic strategies of the actions developed between it and the individuals involved in the inserted environment, and where both with mutual influence and are mutually responsible for the learning processes. It presents two examples of University Libraries that develop educational and cultural activities aimed both at the internal and external community, serving as either a positive example for those that aim to be conceived as an attractive space of learning, welcoming, maximizing the interaction and sharing of knowledge. It concluded by highlighting the importance of the performance of the University Library in an increasingly integrated way with the community, contributing to a greater alignment of the university with society and thus to successfully fulfill its social role.
